When COVID-19 brought the world to a standstill in 2020, businesses had to adapt quickly. Offices shut down, travel came to a halt, and uncertainty loomed large. Like everyone, we faced challenges—but we remained committed to fulfilling ongoing projects, no matter the circumstances.
One order stands out as a true test of perseverance. A food processing factory in Africa had ordered custom-made insulating jackets for their pipes, designed to precise engineering blueprints. We had already paid a significant advance to the manufacturer in the UK when the lockdown struck.
Every day, the news was filled with companies going under. Big or small, businesses were closing at an alarming rate. Our worry? If the manufacturer collapsed, our advance payment and the project could be lost. Travel restrictions meant we couldn’t even visit them in person. To manage the risk, we assigned one team member to keep a constant watch, maintaining communication and looking for any warning signs of trouble.

Fortunately, the manufacturer weathered the storm—perhaps bolstered by our significant order—and completed the jackets. Despite the global chaos, the goods were shipped and received on time, much to the delight of our customer in the Seychelles.
This experience highlighted the importance of vigilance, adaptability, and determination during uncertain times. Looking back, it’s a reminder that with teamwork, proactive planning, and a bit of good fortune, we can overcome even the most daunting challenges.
